Adivasi is a term used to describe tribal people in India and it literally means indigenous people or original inhabitants, which is what they are. A glance into tribal culture gives us a perspective on the untarnished soul of India - what it must have been - before all the invasions, migrations and other historical influences that collectively form Indian identity today.  India is home to over 100 million tribal people scattered predominantly in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odish, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Jewellery holds prime position in tribal culture and often represents a person’s status in the tribe. Necklaces and earrings are handmade from beads, feathers, shells, claws, copper, brass, silver and have geometric as well as asymmetrical designs.
