About Us

Of Indian Origin (registered name – Cottage Collective LLP) is a collective of artisan-based cottage industries, providing a platform that promotes hand-crafted products made in India to a global audience. It is a social enterprise that endeavours to protect, preserve and promote all things hand-crafted in the Indian subcontinent. It is an effort to reclaim our extraordinary heritage by engaging with an audience that understands the history of these crafts and the need to patronize not just the crafts but the artisan communities that struggle to keep them alive.

We currently work with over 100 artisans and as many craft traditions. Our online store showcases a mindfully curated or co-created product line that articulates cultural identity. Our vision is to create a model which will provide quality craft that is relevant, build artisan communities that are organised and professional, create an audience that will engage in long term and volume transactions, thereby transforming the sector in a way that is scalable and sustainable. Shop from over 1000 hand-crafted treasures – Vintage bags, hand-woven sarees and dupattas in natural fabrics, indo-western apparel, hand-made collectibles, antiques, masks, wooden serve ware, block-printed home furnishings, folk paintings, rare nomadic, tribal, and ethnic jewellery, and lots more - each with a story to tell, a story that is waiting to be woven into your life tapestry.

We have always been committed to paying the artisans a fair price and ensure that upto 70% of what we earn goes back to the artisans. We work with several organisations, who engage people with disabilities, or work with underprivileged women, to produce craft that secures a source of livelihood for them. We believe in promoting organic, eco-friendly products, and encourage sustainable fashion. Of Indian Origin also serves as a resource platform for artisan communities enabling product development and promotion.  We provide product training and design interventions to artisan clusters and groups. We provide photography, graphic designing, and cataloguing services for our artisan friends.

Of Indian Origin was recently awarded a Certificate of Recognition from DIPP, Government of India. Of Indian Origin was also recognized as one of the 10 Best e-commerce Start-ups in 2021 by Silicon India Start-up City. Our founder, Natasha C Acharya was awarded one of top 10 Women Entrepreneur of the year 2022 certificate by the much-acclaimed platform Business Connect.
