Handcrafted tribal multi-coloured beaded necklace with blue tassles

This necklace has been handcrafted by the Ahir (Aheer) tribe of Gujarat. The name Ahir comes from "Abhira" a tribe mentioned several times in inscriptions and sacred Hindu texts. The tribe goes by several other names in Gujarat and are traditionally agriculturalists and cow herders by profession. Jewellery made of metals like siver and brass as well as beaded jewellery like the necklace featured here are worn by the Ahir tribe.
